How do I dump someone who I just found out is a Cancer?

I just went on a couple of dates where I thought a guy was great, but just found out he was a Cancer (I am an Aries). He keeps calling me but I have not returned his calls since this time since I found out that according to Astronomy, we can never get along.

What's the best way out of this relationship that I just discovered was a dead-end? I do not want to tell him it's over what sign he is (since that would just be too harsh)...maybe I should just say that my mom is ill or something?
