is it possible to have a career in the police force if your a single mother?

ok, i'm 28, a single mother of three and currently studying for a degree in health and social care. i dont want to go the social care route tho, i'm really interested in joining the police force. however, i'm presuming its shift work which will obviously include night work, so i'm asking if its possible to have a career in the police force if your a single parent and if so how?! lol my kids are 10, 8 and four if it makes any difference. thanks.
i ask as i'm totally on my own, no parents to help out and the dad is pretty useless! plus he lives 40 miles away, so childcare would be the main issue. i just dont know how i'd get childcare so early or in the night.
