Is there a way to fix bad employment experiences?

I am worried because I can't seem to get hired by anyone. I do have a job, but I want a higher paying job. And if I can't get that, a second job. My employment past has been kind of shaky. I've been fired and let go a few times, and I'm afraid this is affecting my ability to get a new job. Is there a way to "fix" these bad experiences so they do not drag me down on my current hunt for employment?
