Need to know what Anti-Depressant to try?

I have had a check up with a Doctor. I don't have any physical problems to make me feel poorly. However the last two months have been unbearable. I have all the symptoms of depression.Previously I took Paxil for three years, it affected my appetite, felt anxious, forgetful and had sexual side effects. Reading up; Paxil is in the group of anti-depressants named SSRI's invented in the 80's. The latest and greatest of the 90's are Effexor, Welibutron and Cymbalta.Understandably everyone has different chemistry, but I would like to hear what your experience with some of these drugs have been.

you need to go to a professional psychiatrist and tell them your symptoms. he/she will prescribe you with the correct anti-depressant if that is right for you.

This isn't something that you should be self-prescribing for.If you've got trouble, go to your doctor and let him figure out what to prescribe.

I was on Prozac for over 10 years when I finally went to a different Dr. After trying several different "new" medicationsand some with almost dire consequences; I ended up on Effexof I have been on that for over 2 years and have in the last 6 months had Risperdal added as a mood stabilier when Lithium had several nasty side effects.Medication can be used alone or in conjunction wth other medication to achieve the desired affect. Also ensure you take regular exercise and let your Dr kow exactly what you are feeling so that meds can be changed or adjusted to meet your needs.Best wishes

i have been on Lexapro for over a yr and it has worked great!!= )
