Why has the Pokemon anime become so childish and cheap?

Check out the animation in the new series... it's so cheap! The episodes and movies actually took more than a few hours to do! I loved Ash's old red and white Pokemon League cap. When his voice was cute and normal sounding... now he sounds like someone trapped him in a canvas bag and run over him with a lawnmower... repeatedly. I hate the Trainer's Choice thing.. what happened to "Who's that Pokemon?" and the original 150 Pokemon (that were actually obtainable in the Red and Blue versions of the game, and you didn't have to go to Japan or drive halfway across America to get an event-only Pokemon!) May and Dawn are so preppy and scatter-brained, and getting rid of Misty completely ruined the chemistry and intrest of the show. I hate the way they make the dumb puns for the episode title... I love Pokemon.. that was my childhood.. I hate to see what they've done with it. It sickens me. I don't know if anyone feels the same way, but I'd like to know what happened!The episodes and movies... before the whole Hoenn and Sinnoh thing came in, that is.Hey SHANDI-- good cut & paste job-- I read the same exact thing about a week ago... .yeah. If you decide to criticize someone's opinions, make sure it's in your own words.Also, I don't appreciate being called ignorant.. er.. or whoever originally wrote that second section of your answer, Shandi.And actually, I love the new versions for the DS. I have both. They are much clearer and have more things to do. But I don't particularily like the new Pokemon, I just collect them to see if I can ever fill that 400 something Pokedex.

I feel exactly the same way. Its so annoying now, honestly. It seems as it keeps repeating itself, but its really going downhill now.

Many people do have problems with the new voice actor, so you are not alone in that account.Nobody (almost nobody) watched the trainer's choice, so they stopped it.Most Pokemon events now take place in Toys 'R' Us or stores like that, so you don't have to drive across the country.The new Pokemon versions are much more improved than Red or Blue.Misty was too impatient and short-tempered, and that is the way I remembered her. I don't see how she made the show anymore interesting than May or Dawn.May was good, but Dawn is...um...a failure.No offense, but maybe your age is starting to show when you become nostalgic looking back at Pokemon.

I strongly disagree.---The animation has only gotten better since Johto. Have you actually SEEN Diamond/Pearl series? The animation brilliant, and the battles are much better than the old days (Especially now that Ash actually EARNS his badges rather than getting them for doing no shit. Seriously, in Kanto he earned more than half his badges without winning a battle) The pokemon movies are beautifully made as well. I would like to see you make a movie just as good in a few hours. It's simply impossible. If you actually watched the movies (especially the recent ones) You'd be able to tell how time-consuming it looks.---And About Misty:Misty is overrated.Long ago back in Kanto when she had a personality she was pretty cool i'll admit. I mean, she had a likeable personality and she brought a little humor to the show. Her pokemon were crap, but she was a little interesting. Then we come to Johto where she grew extremely stale and her togepi didn't help either. She did absolutely NOTHING except say a few words of wisdom here and there and hold togepi around.People that say they like Misty because she is "original and the first girl" are just ignorant, because she didn't bring anything to the table unlike May/Dawn.May/Dawn are involved in contests, and are handled far more better than Misty was. They actually bring more to the table, and have interesting pokemon. So to you Misty fans out there, why is it that YOU hate May/Dawn? Don't get me wrong though. I'm not annoyed by Misty herself. Just fans that treat her like she did sooo much for the show when she didn't.---Also, i'll admit the american version isn't as good as the japanese version. Believe me, if you wath the japanese version, you'd like it alot more.

I know what you are talking about! I turned on the T.V. on day and saw that there was new versions of Pokemon and I was crushed. My favorite child hood memory was playing with the cards with my little brother. Eve was always my favorite and now I see that they have a whole batch of new ones!I think they just changed it so that kids in this generation would like it. Let's face it, kids these days want sparkle and pazaz. They want don't want to see a cute pokemon, like pickachu, they want bigger, badder and stronger.They replaced Misty which I think is MESSED UP!

I strongly believe what happened is our societies have been suddenly taking everything potentially "bad" for children out. I remember poke'mon episode where if they screwed up misty would die (just a random example don't quote that part ;P)Even today people who loose miserabley and come in last a sport get "participation trophies"everyone decided that children need to be treated like they are more innocent then possible in todays insanity of stress and chaos. I am still furious that there was actually an episode where dawn had a bad hair day so she couldn't catch poke'mon WTH! Misty had a bad hair life yet she still did amazing!The show when down hill after Brock left and Tracy showed up since then even team rocket has changed!!!!So honostly I blame....SOCIETY!!-Vampiress1376 blasting off again!!! ;p *tink sound*

when i read that about his voice, i seriously laughed for 20 secs!! funnyand i agreei remember when i was littler i hadda pokemon poster with all 150 and i used it to cheat for the who's that pokemon, and i though i was a bad a**...the good ole daysi dont know if its because it really is worse, or because i am older. I think most new cartoons they come out with are stupid (like that john test one on cartoon network, or the replacements on disney) so maybe its because they arent the same ones i grew up withI miss rugrats, hey arnold, original pokemon, beatle juice, catdog, the list goes on....i didnt have many friends, lol. thats a lotta shows

hey =DWell first of all the BIG reason why everything changed is that they switched companies. They switched from Kids WB to Funmation or Funanimation or something. So there voices changed because the new company couldn't afford the good voice actors and actresses. Misty left because her japanese voice actress wanted to go be a singer so since it had been 5 years with Misty on there anyway they decided just to drop her instead of having her voice actress be replaced. I am also a HUGE misty fan and I wish they never got rid of her. But rumors say that Misty is coming back as a main character and Brock is going somewhere so Misty would be replacing brock. And I agree with you...the characters voices ARE screwed and the anime has lost its spunk...but you know I still watch it becuz I can't bring myself NOT to you know? I have watched every episode from day one.Hopefully it will get good again!PS.Pokemon is still really popularPSS.I think I love you becuz u said May and Dawn are preppy an scatter brainedPSSS.
