"Next, by using four different substances, white sand, powdered carbon, powdered magnesium, and sodium chloride, determined if the each substance is soluble or insoluble in water or in 6 M HCl (hydrochloric acid). First, with spatula, put small amount of each substances into four different 15cm test tube. Added 40 drops of water into each tubes, covered with corks and slowly shake each test tubes for 30 seconds. The only soluble substances in water were powered carbon and sodium chloride. Powdered carbon showed black color, and sodium chloride dissolved in water completely. White sand and powdered magnesium were insoluble in water. Then, insoluble substances were added with 6 M HCl. First, withdrawal water from each insoluble substance, added 40 drops of 6 M HCl into each test tube. The only substance that was soluble in HCl was powdered magnesium. Which created warm bubble, and it got dissolved."
