| I need Organic Chemistry HELP!! Mechanisms....?
In which of the following mechanisms are alkenes the major reaction products? A. E1 only B. both E1 and E2 C. E2 only Could you explain your answer also..      |

C. E2 only. Olefins result from E1 reactions because of an interediate carbonium ion. But once formed, the carbonium ion is free to eliminate to an olefin or rreact with solvent to form another product. What it will do depends on the characteristic of the individual carbonium ion.
