Did the US military test a atomic bomb on Port Chicago.. or was it a accident?

1945, planning is underway to figure out how best to deliver a atomic bomb, if it became the answer, to Japan and detonate it.

At the time airplane delivery was ruled out due to weight problems beliefs. However one theory was to put it on a cargo ship and detonate the bombs in bay.

Port Chicago (true story) (coast of California)

A naval base (not sure the name of the place now but its not the same), used for loading ammunition for the Pacific War, employees hundreds of black sailors. However they are kept in low end jobs, and are treated more like slaves then sailors.

A explosion rips through Port Chicago destroying at least 1 ship and destroying the port itself.
Within days 50 blacks refuse to go back to work, are charged with mutiny and are sentenced to prison

Only 3 would live to see Bill Clinton give them pardons.

Facts:

The Base commander originally worked at Los Alamos and was made base commander about 2 months before the explosion.

A naval officer was filming the port
oh and the naval base commander would go on to be on the Enola Gay when it dropped the first Atomic Bomb.

the naval officer was filming the explosion from acorss the bay.

there were two cargo carriers under tight security, but on the morning of the explosion it was left ungaurded.

the explosion was so violent that a rumble was felt neary 200 miles away, and a mushroom cloud was spotted over the base and white flash which seems very nuclear.

there's more evidence.

Theory #2

the atomic bomb had to be delivered to Guam and then loaded on the enola gay and might have been in port chicago.

The fire set off the atomic bomb.

which seems the best chance?

did the government test a atomic bomb on a us port? or was it a accidental detonation, which might not have been full since it is still a navy air station

Port Chicago was an explosion of conventional arms. The A bomb was tested in a safe area, Alamogordo, NM, July 16, 1945. A nuke would have taken out a LOT more.
