Joining Coast Guard Info?

I am in the Army and thinking of joining the Coast Guard. I am trying to find out about the work schedule. If you are assigned to a ship how long, and how often do you go out to sea? I know it change due to your jobs. I am trying to find out just how much family time I would get. I am on my 2nd deployment with the Army and really not in to the 1 year long deployments, but when we are home it is a pretty normal work week. I just want to make sure that I am not going into something worse and giving up more time with my family

If the CG has extended patrols, you would probably not be out of port more than a week at a time. But never having served, I am likely wrong. Try the CG's website and see if it provides information.
