How do you Join an MSST in the US Coast Guard?

Im stuck between the Marine Corps and the Coast Guard, and the one thing that really strikes me about the USCG are the new MSST's (or Maritime Saftey and Security Teams *{i think} ) and I was talking to a recruiter about it, and all he knew was that they usually take you if you have experiance. It was a very broad answer so if someone could tell me how I could join one of these teams, and which rates usually get picked first (Im thinking BM), I would be very appreciative!

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I'm retired USN Senior Chief (Machinists Mate, Submarines)-unless you get it in writing, you're not guaranteed anything-as a BM, you could be stuck chipping paint on a 40 year-old cutter somewhere-and with those old cutters, there's a lot of rust to chip away. This isn't intended to insult the USCG-I have nothing but admiration for the men and women who go out to sea when it's too rough for the Navy(I'm not kidding!) and keep their ships running properly long after they should be scrapped. Whatever you do, Good Luck!
