possible to become rescue swimmer in Coast Guard If already enlisted?

is it possible for an already enlisted Coast Guard personnell (a Boatswain mate) every apply for AST (rescue swimmer) while he is active duty?

any answers would be greatly appreciated

Not if he is already under contract with another MOS and I will tell you why. The CC spent thousands of dollars training you to become whatever it is you do. Until your current enlistment is up, you wont be able to switch. Even then, you might not be able to switch based on your rank. If you are a NCO, they might not let you in. I know this isn't the answer you wanted but I hope it helps.

contact your enlistment office. and the chances are probably not unless they have a shortage. you signed a contract for active duty in a specific area.

I don't see why not. 90% of it rests on you. Do your homework, be ready mentally and be sure you are a darn good swimmer. Then go talk to your Readiness or Training NCO and work from there.
