The US has the most sophisticated military? Why can't we get it done?

Don't we have the best satelite imagery? Unmanned spy drones? Intellegence (maybe not)?
Why aren't we using tanks? Why not low level fighter attacks?
It seems we are using ground troops, wandering around in humvees and hitting IED's, and apache helicopters which are easy targets. The military has invested multi-billions on all these stealth bombers etc.etc. Are we getting any use out of them? Are we getting our money's worth? Can today's military really accomplish anything that our soldiers in WWII couldn't? Isn't it sad that the World's most advanced military can't take out these grasshopper-eating sand-monkey's?

If our enemies would come out and face us on a battlefield, away from civilian populations, then we would have the option of using the tanks and jets, and we would defeat them decisively.

They know this. So, they won't.

We could, theoretically, still wipe them out with tanks and jets, but that would cause a LOT of collateral deaths among the civilian population. So, we don't.

Yeah, and King George III of England & his buds probably thought George Washington & his boys were nothing but a bunch of grasshopper-eating sand-monkeys as well. And they wouldn't come out in the open and fight fair either, why with their hiding behind rocks and trees and whatnot. But we all see who came out on top in that one. And then in Viet Nam we couldn't get the job done on those bunch of Gooks either. So I guess it all comes down to how determined the enemy is. George and his guys were determined. The Viet Namese were determined. And now these guys are determined. Amazing how history repeats itself.

That's just it though. This war is more than killing people who we see as evil, because when you think about it almost all Americans see the Middle East as evil because of terrorism and this whole war. It doesn't matter what tactics we use because this is a war where we must avoid heavy civilian casualties (well gee, THAT worked out well >_<) and destroy the true enemy which are the terrorist factions. This comes down to the true purpose of the war, which even the people of the country are not sure of anymore.

Sounds like you didn't learn anything about the guerilla war in Vietnam. High tech versus guys scurrying around the jungle. And you lost.

were not facing an enemy..were facing civilians..kids...women..anyone who thinks killing our soldiers is cool...dont worry..put us up against another modern military that can actually and literally surrender..and they will...the Iraqi army fell within like 2 weeks i think it was this time...its just random people fighting us now..not an army..

I recently read the book "Making the Corps" and in it's afterword it talked about how despite the US being the greatest military in the world, it wasn't trained well enough for the type of combat they'd be seeing in Iraq. The US military took over Iraq easily within a matter of months. This is exactly what they're good at. However, they're currently over there serving as a police force. With that being said, the US armed forces are still doing a phenomenal job. We do use our tanks. You're probably getting that impression from watching our ridiculously biased media which only show the negative stuff, and make it even worse by exaggerating on the bad parts. And despite the stereotype, these terrorist organizations have very well educated and smart leaders.
