Transition from Coast Guard to FBI/CIA?

I am graduating this May and will have a degree in Criminal Justice. I would like to pursue the route of the Coast Guard and work in their tactical and counter terror teams. I know these guys in the Coast guard train in conjunction with FBI HRT/SWAT teams. Will this help me when I apply for FBI and then try and do the HRT route? Also I want to go into the coast guard as an officer. Is this going to help me when applying for FBI or make it more difficult. And lastly I would also apply for the CIA paramilitary operations job. How much of being in the coast guards tactical teams help me with the CIA application. I will be applying against former SEALs and SF guys. Hope you can help me on this. Thank you!

Yes - this would be excellent experience for all the paths you have mentioned.

Being an officer would make it easier, because to be an officer, an FBI agent, or CIA, requires a college degree.

I've trained with Coast guard boarding parties on their course of fire. It is a good program.

I am no expert by any means, but I do have friends that transitioned into the FBI, the CIA, the DEA, and the Secret Service from the Navy where we served together.

From what they told me, the FBI, and CIA are more about brains than brawn. They both want, but don't require Graduate Degrees. FBI looking for J.D., and CPA's and CIA looking for various Scientific Degrees.

Don't overlook CGIS, (Coast Guard Investigative Service), they also work with the FBI etc.... and do some pretty cool stuff.

Your degree will help you getting commissioned in the CG as an officer.
