How to get ready for Coast Guard AST (rescue swimmer) A-School?

I was wondering what was the bet training regimen to get ready for Coast Guard AST. I will be going to CG Basic about this time next year (I already started the enlistment process) and when I graduate I want my rate to be AST. I just want to know about how many miles should I be able to run and swim etc. THANKS!!!!!

I went through Navy Rescue Swimmer School back in 1985.

What I would recommend you work on besides running and swimming are: Push ups, Pull ups, Sit-ups, and FLUTTER kicks !!

I remember doing flutter kicks for HOURS... sitting on the edge of the pool with the fins on.

GOOD LUCK and Remember "SO OTHERS MAY LIVE"
