Combat in the Coast Guard?

I am interested in possibly becoming an officer in the Coast Guard. I am wondering what types of jobs for officers involve weapons. I am looking for specific jobs that involve homeland secrurity and guns. Thanks.

The Coast Guard is hard to get into. Expect a fairly long waiting list.

So you like homeland security and guns...... Well, that's not really what the Coast Guard is mostly about. Perhaps you'd like the Marines better. Coast Guard vessels are usually armed, and the size determines the size of the armament. The Coast Guard is there to over see ports, freight, and the boarder. If you want a master mariners license (a drivers licence for a ship), you get it from the Coast Guard. You want to bring your container vessel into a port, the Coast Guard will give you permission. It's an elite service.

Coast Guards also go to Iraq just like all the other military branches. Be a man and join the real mans military.
