Can the Coast Guard Reserve fit the life of a single mom?

I am a single mom of two children, I work full time and attend college full time completing my AA in engineering. I will be attending University full time in January 2009 and will leave my full time job and work part time to complete my undergrad. I will be getting loans and was considering joining the Coast Guard Reserve to get some help for school. I would love to hear from any one that has a similar experience in the Coast Guard Reserve. I understand the chances of being call within the U.S. if a natural disaster was to happen and so forth, but what are the chances of international deployments? I am also thinking of maintaining health coverage for my children once I leave my full time employment, is it affordable thru the reserves? And lastly, if there is anyone that has been or is in the Coast Guard Reserve that could give me any additional information or personal stories it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone

If you are a single parent, you are going to have trouble joining any branch. That's a no-go.
