I've been looking and haven't found any updated information. My guess is that it will take them some time to determine the effect of their missile. If it hit the satellite and scattered thousands of pieces, it will be difficult to predict. We just know that the longer the pieces stay up there, the more dispersed they will become. That main target was the fuel tank. They wanted to blow it up so that the hazardous fuel would spread out and burn up when it hits the atmosphere.

Also, if the satellite was blown up, we will probably be hearing reports of re-entry "meteors" all along its path for several hours or even days. Most of the pieces that make it to the earth should fall in the oceans. In these cases there is always a very small but measureable probability of property damage or injury.

It's supposed to burn up over the sea, where it shouldn't hurt anyone.
