You can contact your nearest Naval Reserve recruiter and find out what units drill at the reserve center. If there is an aviation unit, you may affiliate with that unit and train for the rate that you want.

If there is no aviation units in nearby reserve centers, you may still be able to get an aviation rate by being cross-assigned out to another unit.

The length of a military contract is eight years, but not all of that time is required active driling time. If you were to enlist for four years, the other four would be for inactive ready reserve (IRR), should you decide not to stay in the active reserve.

I can not answer most of your question however I can tell you that once you go into a branch of the service you can be called back to duty for 8 years after you enter even if you are not in the reserves and have compleated 2 or 4 years.
