Which military branch should I join? Navy, Marines, or NG???

Hi, I am a sophomore in HS and looking at doing a 4 year service in either the Navy, Marines, or Guard. I want to be a cop afterwards, so which do you think has a good Military Police "program?" I am leaning more towards Marines, since I love to be the best at any organization I join, as well as school (I am an Eagle Scout, work on senior staff at a Boy Scout leadership camp, i have a 3.9 GPA, etc.) I was wondering how it is to be an MP in the marines. what exactly do they do? Will i have to go fight in the frontlines of Iraq, or stay on base??? How hard would marine boot camp be for a really small person like me (i'm not exactly a huge, buff giant). What about the mental stress of boot camp, how hard is that??? Thanks for your answers!

Size means nothing in boot camp, its just as hard for big people as it is for small people..And Iraq war has no front lines..

I just spoke to a friend who is a GYSGT Military Police in the Marines and I asked him what exactly he did..Here is a summary of what he said..
When in the USA he is works with the Navy in the brig aboard a Marine Corps base..When he started he would patrol the base just like a civilian cop but would only remain on base..
When he goes to Iraq he is in charge of a unit of MP's which provide security for convoys or security for certain situations..For example..when an IED explodes and a service member is hurt or a vehicle is destroyed his team will arrive first and provide a perimeter of security until the investigation is over or the vehicle is recovered....Its a good job for civilian transfer...Good look to you little man..

If you want to serve for 4 years, the Guard is no longer an option (6 years). I am an Eagle scout wanting to be a cop too. That's why I joined the Air Force. As an eagle Scout, you will go in as an Airman First Class (E-3) and you can be guaranteed in writing to get the Air Forces version of Military Police, Security Forces (SF). Also, upon completion of Security Forces Technical Training School, you will have an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force. I would suggest you go talk to a recruiter.

Personally, I would go into the Air Force but if I had to choose from those it would be "The Few, The Proud, The Marines"

I heard it was pretty tough but in the end, you gain alot of experience in both life and personal discipline.

They all have police oriented ratings. But to be a police officer you don't need all that experience behind you. In the Navy I knew some ex-cops that joined and became "Master at Arms", which is the Navy's form of police officer. Just pick something that interests you if you're going to join because its four years of your life and you'll probably change your mind a thousand times about what you want to do.

That is something you have to think long and hard about. Once you sign on the dotted line, you are in for at least 2 years. You can't tell the military you didn't know what you were thinking at the time you signed up .
