I will be joining the Coast Guard reserves in may, and was wondering what i could

expect? I will be shipping out in may, and i was wondering if anyone else has gone through this, what can i expect, will i be going to boot camp, will i get a salary. any one know?

Its pretty tough, a lot of rough sea exercises, fully equiped exercises in water and mud. Similiar too army boot camp. But its definately worth it as some of the conditions coast guards have to endure is mind blowing. I loved it though as Im a water baby at heart I did it for 4 years. Hope you dont get sea sick. I got paid from when I started basic training.

My husband just graduated on March 14.

The first week is called your "Company Forming" week. This is where you'll form into your Company. My husband was in Charlie 179. I suggest that you prepare for the physical aspect of boot camp. You will be tested in running, push-ups, sit-ups, and swimming. Also, you'll get same pay as everybody else in bootcamp which is E1 pay unless you have dependents. :]
