Does anyone have any good ideas for community service projects?

I'm looking for something that my college dorm could do that would be fun and creative, not just collecting things or money. Our missions statement asks us to impact our community and the world, and I would like to find something we can do together that will contribute to a cause somewhere overseas.
If you can provide links to websites, that would be awesome.
It may effect your answer to know that I go to a Christian college. Thanks!
Oh, also one thing I've done in the past is painted canvas shoes for refugee children, and if anyone knows of a link where I can get information on that, that would be awesome.
