One good thing about you, is that you are recognizing that you committed a wrong act.
The next question is will your record affect your future?
Yes and No. There is statute of limitation for lower levels of offenses , however you should ensure under"Privacy Act" that your criminal record is erased, don't believe what the police or prosecutor tell you, you have the legal right to request from the Police Public Records Department a copy of your criminal record. Make sure that you follow up on this, it will take some work , I am sure you will agree that your future depends on it.

Alternative Community Service on future job prospects?

I am going to court soon for a first offense minor theft charge with a clean record. I've been told that ACS (alternative community service) will most likely be the result of our case. My question is in regards to my record. If that happens, will I maintain this record which would hurt my job prospects incredibly. Can I have it expunged or is getting ACS equivalent to pleading guilty? I am only worried about my future job prospects and paying a fine is not a concern.
