| Obama's people - Is this the "change" he speaks of?
Gen. Wesley Clark, acting as a surrogate for Barack Obama's campaign, invoked John McCain's military service against him in one of the more personal attacks on the Republican presidential nominee this election cycle. Clark said that McCain lacked the executive experience necessary to be president, calling him "untested and untried" on CBS'"Face the Nation." And in saying so, he took a few swipes at McCain's military service. "He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee. And he has traveled all over the world. But he hasn't held executive responsibility. That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded -- that wasn't a wartime squadron," Clark said. "I don't think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president."But here's a question: if the willingness to fight for your country, put your life on the line and suffer the brutality McCain suffered as a POW doesn't make the cut as far as qualifications go, how far below that does a "community organizer" show up on the list of non-qualifications?“The question really remains, when has Barack Obama stood up and taken on his party on anything of national significance?” Pawlenty asked. “It's not leadership to jump in front of a parade. And I think Barack Obama's book 'The Audacity of Hope' perhaps should be retitled 'The Audacity of Hypocrisy.'”http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080629/pl_politico/11425Looks like he and his people are the "typical" politicians he says he's against!!Before you post, PLEASE understand what you're talking about. This guy Clark is being considered as Obama's possible VP, so it's not some "random guy" talking shit. Jesus, you people never cease to amaze me with your ignorance!

Wesley Clark was absolutely right, whether he was speaking for Obama or not.If you think a new kind of politics means we aren't going to make sure that McCain's weaknesses (of which there are many) are pointed out, then you are more delusional than you claim Obama's supporters are. Instead of whining about Obama's surrogates, why don't you explain why you think getting shot down makes you qualified to be president?

So you're saying if one of your friends said something offensive or low,you would want people to hold it against YOU?Didn't think so.Stop judging and grow up.

Clark has a right to express his opinion and you have the right agree. He is right about one thing McCain is no leader and has never held a leader ship position. McCain is either an idiot who can't remember where he stands on the issues or he is the biggest liar in the world. He has even voted against bills that he cosponsored. Any one with an ounce of intelligence can see through him.

What Obama is doing is nothing new, but he'll claim he's not doing it. He's having his surrogates sling slime and then after the damage is done, he'll reap the results. If it causes too much of a stink, he'll resort to his mantra, "that's not the man I knew". Just like he did with Rev. Wright. I mean, seriously, does any clear headed objective person think that he sat there for 20 years and listened to that racist rant and rave without agreeing with him?!

does being on the plane make you a pilot? i agree mccain is no more qualified to be president than obama.... experience does not equal a new beginning , but old ways of thinkin.....

Clark was being nice when he said Mccain was untested. The fact is he was tested and failed. As a POW he broke and made propaganda tapes against America. As a former Marine, I have never been in that situation so I don't say he was wrong for doing what he did. However, If I did the same thing he did, I wouldn't call myself a war hero.

John McCain served his country honorably, and made tremendous sacrifices for it. Wesley Clark said that that alone doesn't qualify someone to be President of the United States. Do you think it does? Is every fighter pilot who's gotten shot down, even served as a POW, qualified to run the most powerful nation on Earth, just because of that experience? As great as John McCain's sacrfice was, he will be the first to tell you that there are others who sacrificed much more than he did. Many have been left permanently without arms and/or legs, or suffer from severe PSTD, and from mental disabilities caused by shell-shock. Are they all qualified to be President because of their sacrifice? I don't think so...I have known several people who sacrificed greatly for our country, and thousands are doing so right now in Afghanistan and Iraq. Does their sacrifice mean they're qualified to be President? What Gen. Clark said was, plain and simple, the truth. As honorable as it is, becoming a POW does not qualify a person to become President. Any thinking person will acknowledge that. And McCain and his allies should really address the issues instead of picking petty fights with people who aren't even representing Obama, and whose words Obama immediately disavowed.
