The reason she was given community service vs a fine is because the judge felt that she should volunteer, possibly so she would learn something rather than paying her way out of her crime. Maybe you should volunteer with her. As her friend, you could volunteer along side of her, be supportive and make it fun so the time Will pass quicker. |

if the judge offered the option then there is an option if not she has to do the time. 120 hours is not that much time (3 total work weeks based on 40/hr weeks). Some places will even offer extra hours for hours worked. I would suggest that your friend get busy and start calling around to find out who is in need of volunteer work. SOme schools have different fund raising things (fun fairs etc) where they need volunteers. Check with the local churches, libraries etc. I know you have heard the old saying don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Your friend got off easy with 120 hours of community service as opposed to being locked up somewhere. This is supposed to be a lesson not a walk in the park. |
