If you look in the education literature, there is no (and has never been) any correlation between abundance of computer technology and learning performance. As a matter of fact, a very good case can be made that the presence of computers in the classroom results in lowered results. But....it is easier for school districts to install computer hardware than to recruit great teachers. Some of the best Middle and Secondary Schools do not have classroom computers. Even the libraries will have only a few for reference use. In great schools, kids spend most of their time reading and studying and comparitively little time at the screen. Mediocre public schools love fancy computer labs and especially are fond of elementary classrooms with an array of PC's ..... but it doesn't result in much learning.
