Is there a company called MSN/YAHOO Lottery Corporation? A friend of mine has received an email stating that he has won a huge sum as winning money and that a cheque in his favour sent to his address. But he has not participated in any lottery. Will this message be true?

Sorry. It's a hoax as are any emails you receive regarding "random drawings". Any emails you receive stating, "Dear Sir or Madam, I am so and so from such and I am writing to you in regards to the estate of so and so, in the sum of $xxx. After extensive research, your name has come up as the sole beneficiary of said estate." Blah, blah, blah. Anything you receive via email in regards to money will be a hoax. Don't fall for "banks" that send emails telling you your account has been frozen due to suspicious activity. The bank or credit company will call you if there's a problem w/ your account. If you've ebay, PayPal or any such accounts, be careful of the wording. I get mail from Paypal(notice the difference in the "p" 's) all the time telling me my account is suspended. If it's a legit email from one of the companies you deal with, it will address you by name, "Dear (your name)" and often include the account number in the mail. Hoax emails will begin, "Dear Client or Customer". Legit emails will NOT ask for personal info such as account numbers, SS#'s, etc. Legit companies already have that info and will not be requesting such via email.

No, it isn't true. You can't win a lottery you didn't enter, and since that lottery doesn't exist in the first place, it will be even harder to win! There is no such thing as an MSN, or Microsoft, or Yahoo lottery. They do not give away money.
