Welfare for people or corporations?

I hear from republicans their main reason for disliking the democrats is that the dems want to pay for "lazy" people to live on welfare and raise everyones taxes.
Would you rather your tax money go towards corporate welfare and funding the war?
We spend 275 million dollars a day in Iraq alone.
We spend hundreds of billions of dollars on corporate welfare.

The money we spend on social services anually is a fraction of the money we spend on war and rich people.
Why would you rather spend our tax dollars on war and corporations than on average people like you and I who need help to feed their family or go to the doctor?
Where has America's compassion gone?
With welfare, we must err on the side of compassion. I'm sure that some people abuse the system, but they are not the majority and I feel it's better to help some undeserving people than to harm thousands of families who deserve some help.
Analogies:
Some police abuse their power and act immorally on the job, does that mean we should cut their funding? NO

Some public school teachers are awful at their job, should we stop funding public education? NO

Some corporations, such as Dick Cheney's Haliburton, use off shore, front companies to avoid paying hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes, should we stop giving them no-bid government contracts? You can answer that one yourself.

The so called corporate welfare is often incentives for companies to move to communities that want the jobs. So some good comes from corporate welfare. Welfare for people often dampens work ethics and becomes a trap in poverty. Welfare does more harm than good. Let communties help the poor .. and keep govenment out of it.

You are lieing about social services and war. Social security and medicare medicaid etc eat up 40% of our budget ... all military spending 21% .... so I expect an apology for your misinformation

The republicns made it very unpopular to have any compassion for the poor.
Your very astute to see how the republicans always have a hand out for the corporations but G-d forbid you give to the poor or feed a hungry child someone was forced to have and does not want.
If these republicns were really compassionate they would give more then 2% of the GNP to the poor and less then the 38% they give the corporations.

Welfare for people who really need it, but cut taxes to corporations that stay in America.

Well you know that "corporate welfare" you are talking about? They are thing that provides the jobs. People getting welfare is a pile of crap. There are plenty of jobs out there, and if you start taxing the hell out of companies, there wont be, then you will have a higher unemployment rate and the goverment and people would have to suck it up. Oh, isn't that called "Personal Responsibilty"?
As for feeding your family or going to the doctor, get off your @ss and get a job that you earn more so you can do those things. It is not the governments responsibilty to care for you. If you do not have a legitamate reason why you cannot work i.e. a disability, then as I said before, get off your @ss and get to work finding a better job.
Compassion? It is out there, but people need to start to take care of themselves. Period. I have no compassion for a lazy @ss who will not work as hard as I have to reach the independence I have.

I've always voted democratic, but I hate the welfare system. Some people use it as a temporary help, but for others it's a way of life. Retired makes a very good point- people are upset that jobs are lost to overseas workers, but what most people don't seem to realize is that the U.S. tax on businesses is second only to Japan! That's huge! We should cut taxes on businesses.

McCain isn't for bailing out companies either.

HRC and Obama would rather propogate the welfare state and a nation that doesn't believe in responsiblity for their own actions.

Sorry. Voting McCain in 08.
