| Why does my credit card company take seconds to post debits, but days to post credits? On Thursday, I went to Circuit City and bought an "open box" computer monitor at a great price. Same three year warranty, same 30 day return policy. Got it home and noticed it had a chip in the screen. Brought it back within 30 minutes and got a refund. The charge was posted literally within seconds of when my card was swiped, but here it is three days later and the return credit is still not posted! It is in the CC company's best interest to post the credit quickly so I can go out and spend it again and they can get their 2% or 3% of the sale. I know it can't possibly be the technology, since it is all electronic and immediate. So what is the hold up? |
