Are old senior citizens cranky a lot?

Why? I thought about this question after I heard the term "cranky old man", will I be a cranky old man when I grow up? comments?

Cranky is not age specific....and those whom are cranky old people, were cranky young people once....All age does, is personify what we already are, and unhappy people are that way for life, apparently......All the ones I know that are "grumpy, or cranky" in their senior years, were that way all their lives....It does get worse with age, if you are already that way as a "youngster".......

Babies are fussy; teenagers are self-centered; twenty-somethings are know-it-alls; old people are cranky. Any more stereotypes you'd like to discuss?

Not really. I know a lot of old people who are friendly and lovely. It really depends on their environment and how they grew up.

What you are when you grow old is a result of how you live your life and your environment. If you don't wanna be a "cranky old man", while you are still young, practice living a happy life. Don't stress yourself, just keep on smiling! If you live in an environment that makes you become cranky, then try moving to another place.

A lot of people hate "cranky old" people. So, act on it before it's too late!

I think you might if you grow up. I'm not at 56 and will not get cranky, but I'm never going to get old.

Cranky isn't an automatic expectation. Many people go through life taking all their ills and woes with them - some justifiably, but other suffer in silence. I think you have to have a good mental attitude to life and the world, and make a special effort to stay up-beat and optimistic regardless of what the world and life throws at you. I know many oldies, many of whom have every reason to complain and moan, but never do and always greet the world with a smile and a good word. The opposite can come from those who I think just spent their entire life, whatever age, very grouchy and at odds with the world and his wife. It's all in the mind and attitude, so I hope you bear that in mind and manage to stay a happy bunny for the next 80 years at least.
