GEMMA G has a spectacular aura about
Hello I work with people with Learning Disabilities and am finding the...

...new Mental capacity act a? bit of a grey area has anyone found this? I am attending a training course on this subject on weds and was wondering what the grey area's are for people are and hopefully I can report back to you after my course.
Well every thing that applies to supporting adults with Learning disabilities to make choicesand decisions. I train people in our company to use Non-violent crisis intervention and one of the issues I find is that if a person makes a choice to act out or put their dignity at risk then when do we as staff decide that they lack the capacity to make decisions?

I think the grey areas you are referring to, are more black and white when referring to a particular case.
if you read through the act, as I imagine you have done! Then it does seem to be confusing, however once you start to put it into practice it is a little clearer.

I know exactly what you mean, I did the course about 6 months ago...!
Just make sure you ask your course provider lots of questions!!!
