Although I'm an American, I wasn't raised in the States so I don't share the while/black prejudice that exists here. I'm sorry about the prejudiced you have felt. They can stare all they want, you do belong there, actually you live there. If you ever have the opportunity throw a question at them, "is there something wrong lady?" or "do you know me?" (ha-ha)

I live in a white neighborhood too but I never felt like I didn't belong. But thats just the city I live in. If I went to another neighborhood like you did though, I don't know how they would react.

Perhaps its the way you dress. Like are you dressing thugish? I'm scared of anyone who dresses thugish, white, black, hispanic, asian. I don't know, try not to let it get to you because they want you to feel uncomfortable. Show them you have the right and earned the right to be there. TThis is America after all, people just need to get used to diversity.

I feel the same about everyone. I like to get to know them before I decide if they would be good friends. It makes me angry that you have to endure that kind of treatment. Maybe they are people who just never get outside their own little town. I can't say what 'white people' think, because I am only one. I only know that the people I associate with think the same, and they are all intelligent professional people.

I am African American and I was raised in white areas all my life and that's actually all I know. I get constantly picked on because I dont listen to rap music or dont "talk black" as people say. I think its ridiculous not only was I picked on for that but all my friends are white and all of my bf's were white. I have lived all over this place and I think that people's opinions are just different everywhere you go. It depends are they experiences and how they were raised. They may have had a bad experience with an African American and now they just judge right from the start until we prove them wrong. I know that when people see me they automatically think the stereotypical things then I just prove them wrong.
