Are the Japanese ignorant about other cultures?

I'm not saying all Japanese are ignorant. I'm curious because Japan is a new comer to world affairs. Do the Japanese have more knowledge about the middle east than Americans and Europeans. Japan is a homogenous society unlike the United States. The smart and ignorant people around world. There are smart and ignorant people around the world.Sorry about my spelling

Actually yes they are...I am half lack half japanese and as I child i lived in Japan and I was treated better than the other kids that were half white half japanese because they feel that americans are only white people.......since they have been isolated for so long and refused to connect with other countries they tend to have a stereotypical view of other cultures as well...this is mainly from a the view point of the people not the japanese government

With world wide business interests the Japanese cannot afford to be ignorant of other cultures...that said there are pockets of ignorance in every country and every people.

Coming from another half Japanese, I have to agree with Goku deshou. Japan is a beautiful country, and humble and polite to a fault... but Japanese views and knowledge of other countries are still developing strongly. You often hear the stereo typical American is Brad Pitt! So yeah, we Japanese are still learning, just like everyone else.
