Question about chavs?

I am American. I have seen and heard a lot about chavs on this board about how they are a menace to your society. Are they similar to out Bloods, Crips or MS-13s? These gangs are a form of terriorism. They put fear into our neighborhoods and initition into the gangs require murder, rape etc. They are very threatening. Is it the same with chavs? Also, chavs seem to be a new group of thug youth. But as I remember it the punk culture of England in the 70s and 80s were pretty ruthless. Are this chavs the kids of the punk culture? Just wondering?

I don't think they're gangs, they're more like wiggas than gangs i think. Not really threatening most of them just wear tracksuits and big gold jewelry, and act tough. And speak ridiculously, and act obnoxious.

Ok well chavs in britain are basically young teenagers that smoke and drink at a very young age they go round the streets late at night causing trouble and basically mugging old pople. they are'nt to bright and are very mouthy so in some sense yes they are probley the new age version of gangs.

Chavs are not necessarily Bloods, Crips or MS-13. Gangs like the three you have enlisted are worldwide cliques which are on the top watchlist of police offers. The word 'chav', at it's core, is a slang term usually used in the UK to describe counterfeit goods. However, it has been colloquial to the lower-class which in many cases has the striking dress code (Gold rings, in some cases hoodies, baseball cap back-to-front etc)

In my experience Chavs are no threat to anyone, and are just kids trying to be. I haven't actually heard the term for a long time. Knife crime is on the rise it's possible that they are responsible for it, but most chavs are just dickheads who won't do anything.

chavs are not gangs, they are just youths that have nothing to do with their time, thus resort to anti-social behaviour. they hang around in groups, giving unsuspecting civilians reason to be cautious and intimadated. they will often provoke confrontation with people for no reason, they are often shoplifters. and they wear the cheapest clothes possible. they generally where never brought up to any measurable standard, have low IQ, and little future prospects.However the media has potrayed them in a worse light than is the case. all youth is now feared to a degree by the elderly, and called the 'yob culture' when in actual fact only 12% of crime in the UK can be attributed to this youth demographic.
