why is it that we are encouraged to learn and appreciate other cultures/lifestyles, but people of that culture

do not accept it, or even want you to see, know, live and experience that culture. its just seems like i was taught to learn and get to know other cultures and lifestyle to embrace it and respect it.......and when people do do that..sometimes people are offended that you like the culture and lifestyles...........how can we appreciate a culture anymore if its not welcomed in the first place?i like that Simply C!

It's one thing to learn about and aprreciate other people's culture, but to adopt someone's culture as your own when you don't fully understand it is something totally different. For example, You can appreciate a culture's music, art, foods, clothing, but you can never truly feel in your heart what that particular group has gone through, and you shouldn't try and be who you aren't.

Who encourages this exactly and what is their motivation for doing so?Destroy a people's cultural identity, then it is easy to break a community. Break the community then the family falls next. Break the family and then the individual will fall like a house of cards.Does anybody ever maybe consider that when you fall for this indoctrination that you are playing into the hands of a malevolent plan? Appreciate and cultivate your own without bashing others and the Marxist thought that would destroy human freedom will be destroyed.I know....never happen....keep celebrating "diversity" and chanting the mantras of "multiculturalism" without ever questioning why. Multiculturalism is the religion of sheep.

I agree with Simply_Cynical. It is one thing to like or embrace a culture, but it is totally different to act like that culture is yours or adopt it. For example: you ever seen a white woman get with a black dude, then she starts acting and talking stereotypically black, then putting cornrows in their hair, and trying to cook soul food lol. There is a difference. Another example: I like Japanese culture and the food as well. But I don't go around speaking Japanese or anything else like that.

Good point. I think the problem comes in because some people try to emmulate certain things that are culture specific and then down other aspects of that culture.
