It's the same pot, some of the ingrediants keep escaping the combining sauce.

These days it's just one big CROCK POT & everything is breaking down into nothing because it's been left to cook for far too long.

It's a salad. I learned that growing up in New York City. Each ethnic group had its own neighborhood, yet all were Americans and proud of that achievement and/or blessing.
However, when it came to going into uniform to defend the nation, there was a blending of those ingredients into one whole dish.
Across from the State Capital in Austin, Texas there is a little traffic island which contains something that proves that point. In the center of the island is a cenotaph containing the names of all of the men from Austin who lost their lives in World War Two. One look at those names and you are exposed to every ethnic group imaginable under the sun.
I think this facet of America is the one which drives Europeans crazy. Despite those different ethnic and racial backgrounds, we are still one nation. Belgium still hasn't integrated their Dutch and French speaking regions as yet. Upper and Lower Austrians are not quite fond of each other.
It is also a signal to show the stupidity and madness of groups like Al Queda. On East Desert Inn Road in Winchester Township (a suburb of Las Vegas) sits a mosque. Close by, on the same side of the street, are two Christian churches. No one is throwing grenades from one structure to the other. No one in any of the structures is trying to burn down one of the other structures. And all of this tolerance and comity is happening in a place that others call "Sin City".

You forget the cream which keeps all ingredients closely together and how all of them join hands to give you a munch by munch different but always a delicious taste. The moot question is,"are we spiritually ready to experience the togetherness."?

I think it's a melting pot in that there are more mixed relationships and marriages than there ever was before but overall I think its more like a tossed salad.

I guess America will always be a melting pot. Tho more im-
balanced than it is now. Somewhere back in an earlier presidency, the annual limit for each group of immigrants
from the various countries, has been lifted and our
country is so overrun with too many people that there is
no longer an even balance. And with the free flowing traffic
south of the border, it is conceivable, that we will find more
opposition to these illegals and legal Americans will be
voicing their unrest more and more.
In the area where I live, there are no separate areas of
distinction where one group lives. They seem to be blended
in to the mainstream. There are rural areas tho, where the
Mexican illegals have taken over little towns and are forcing
the white families out, by breaking car and home windows
and other forms of vandalism. Apparently, nothing is being
done to discourage this and people are worried of where
this take over will end.
