Why do people with disabilities radiate more love and joy than people without...

...disabilities? A friend of mine is physically disabled but she is brimming over with life. She always has a smile on her face and really knows how to have a good laugh.
One would expect her to be more pessimistic about life but she enjoys every bit of it. I have never seen a person without a disability radiate so much joy everyday.
Why is this so? Do people with disabilities appreciate life more than others?
