| I want to learn to dance! Is rhythm something you can learn? I want to learn to dance, like hip hop style. But I'm a complete beginner! And I'm not really sure if I have that much rhythm. -.- Is rhythm something you can learn, through practice? Or am I doomed? And does anyone have any advice on how I can start learning? i.e. in a big class / private lessons etc. I'm a little iffy about going in a big class atm, as I'm so rubbish! But I would if it's the best way to learn. I live around the Plymouth area, if anyone knows of anywhere good... Thankyou! |

| Yes you can learn rhythm. I believe everyone can learn it because we all have hearts that beat and it is natural to our body to respond to rhythm. You just never gave it enough attention that's why you feel that you don't have it. Try this: find a song that you consider rhythmical. Now clap your hands to every beat. I'm sure you have no problem doing it. That means you have rhythm. Now try clapping stronger to a stronger beat. Now try clapping only to the strongest beat. See, you have rhythm. The trick with dancing is to teach your feet and your whole body move with it. It takes some practice. Just be patient with yourself and don't give up before you try. And don't be afraid to make a fool of yourslef just because you're a beginer and you don't look great dancing. Stop takign yoursef too seriously and go to a class. If you don't like the class go to a different class. I don't live in Plymouth area so I can't help you out with local stuff. But do go to classes. |
