Confused has a spectacular aura about
19, never danced, invited to a club... help?

Well... thing is that I've never been to a dance event before. I didn't go to prom or any of those things b/c my friends weren't the dancing type, b/c I didn't know how to dance, or because I never had a partner (being gay in a very restrictive community).
So now I'm out of the closet and all and I've begun to become very brave in social situations, but I've always been an outcast and don't really feel comfortable in environments like this. However, I've never tried before, and my coworkers and friends I work with have planned that we all go out dancing and have told me that I should go. I feel like I should really, b/c I want to be better friends w/my coworkers and get out of my shell.
However I'm very self-conscious and I don't think I could handle being made fun of b/c I don't know how to dance at all. My coworkers don't seem like the type to humiliate, but still, I don't know if I really want to go... I feel very scared... to death... like before riding a rollercoaster...
