Do I need a pair of tap shoes straight away to learn tap dancing?

Dancing From Ballet to Hip Hop, competitive to Irish Step Dancing. Everyone loves to dance, even when noone is looking ;)

Do I need a pair of tap shoes straight away to learn tap dancing?

Or can I start off with a normal pair of shoes and buy a pair of tap shoes once i'm cirtain that I want to continue with it?

Or is their a tap attachment that I can put on my normal shoes thats cheap so that I can just have a go?
