Do you think offering slippers to dance in at a wedding reception is a good idea?

I DO have the room in my budget for the slippers, especially since I would plan on hitting up 'Chinatown', to purchase them. I have been to only one wedding who offered the slippers and I though it was a nice little idea. They were tied together nicely with a ribbon with the size, and were placed into a nice basket on the corner of the dance floor. My fiance thinks that the idea is foolish, and that it would be a waste, as no one would use them... so this is really my only concern. Let me know what you think!
