I'd love to try Irish Dancing but I have a few questions about it?

Dancing From Ballet to Hip Hop, competitive to Irish Step Dancing. Everyone loves to dance, even when noone is looking ;)

I'd love to try Irish Dancing but I have a few questions about it?

my questions are
1 at 25 am I too old to start even though I have done dance in the past (ballet not Irish)
2 are heavy shoes like pointe shoes? I mean do you need a lot of training and experience to start Heavy shoe?
3 are competitions compulsory or does it vary from school to School?
the last part of the question is particularly important as I have a learning disability
