Democratic-Republican Party are connected by their names and by the Democracy of the Federal Republic theory.

The United States of America is a constitutional federal republic comprising fifty states and a federal district.

Re conspiracy theories Democratic-Republican Party

The name "Democratic-Republican" was actually used briefly in American politics to describe a contemporary political faction: in the time of Andrew Jackson, when the Republican Party was splintering into factions, "Democratic-Republican" was used to refer to Jackson's supporters within the

Republican Party. These supporters would soon organize themselves into a new political party: the Democratic Party.

The claim that the modern Democratic Party was founded in 1792 by Thomas Jefferson is ahistorical, to say the least. While the Democratic Party was founded from remnants of the Democratic-Republican Party, its opposition (the National Republicans, then the Whigs) was as well. Because the

They all salute the same Amrican flag. Two parties give us the right for Democracy. They must work together, to run this country. Let's hope they try fairness, for a CHANGE!

They work together when it is in their own best interest. Funny how someone said it gives us democracy. In most "free" nations there are many different political parties. We only have two that control the govt at the state and federal level. And they work together to ensure their monopoly. When I was growing up we were taught that the one party system in the Soviet Union was "bad". But now that I am grown, I see the two party system touted as a bastion of democracy as being a big fraud. The two parties conspire and work together to keep any other differing opinions, i.e. third parties, out of state and federal elections so they can never be heard. Few people actually agree totally with either the democratic or republican platforms. We have liberal, moderate and conservative democrats and republicans, since they can't be anything but one of the two parties. In Europe there are many different political parties which form coalitions to work together in government, and provide great checks and balances. How can we have checks and balances when the two parties in power work together to ensure their own hold on government?
