We don't have any real left wing in this country. There is no strong Communist, Socialist, or Trade Unionist party here. The Democrats are a centrist party, and the Republicans are a right wing party.

No the democratic party is not a left wing party. Both parties sit right in the middle of the spectrum so that they can both be appealing to a wide range of voters.
