Campaigns are definitely about resources: people, time and money. He has the time - that's what has allowed him to spread his message and convince people to vote for him. It will soon dispatch Clinton and he has plenty of time before the general election.

As for people, anyone who can volunteer in their community to help the campaign (hang signs, answer phones, stuff envelopes, etc) will help him win. Successful campaigns take a LOT of elbow grease and man/woman power. If you can't spend time working in a structured way, be sure to talk to people you know. Tell them you support Obama and tell them WHY. Ask them to support him and vote for him.

Finally, money. Any amount of money you can raise or donate on your own will make a difference. The campaign has raised record amount of cash - and they've NEEDED it. Being able to out spend Clinton has been critical to some of Obama's wins. Keep it up! It's very easy to donate on his website.

The best way to make absolutely certain that Barack Obama becomes the President of the United States is to run the strongest ticket that we can run against John McCain.


The strongest ticket against John McCain is Hillary Clinton for President and Barack Obama for Vice President in 2008 and 2012, then Barack Obama for President in 2016 and 2020.

This will give us 16 years of excellent Presidents that the Republicans cannot beat.

If we do not run this ticket and just try to run Barack Obama for President and shut Hillary Clinton out, the McCain campaign will do exactly what the George Bush campaign did in 2004.

Do you remember when the George Bush campaign hired several thousand people all over the United States to contact supporters of Hillary Clinton by telephone?

Do you remember that the Bush people pretended to be supporters of Hillary Clinton?

Do you remember the pitch that they gave?

They told the Hillary Clinton supporters to vote for George Bush rather than John Kerry so that the way would be clear for Hillary Clinton to run for President in 2008.

So you remember that enough supporters of Hillary Clinton were persuaded by this technique to vote for Hillary Clinton instead of John Kerry that it gave George Bush the election?

If none of the Hillary Clinton supporters had been persuaded to vote for George Bush, the margin that John Kerry would have had would have been so large that it would have been impossible for George Bush to steal the election.

John McCain is the master of this technique. That is the way that John McCain built his political career.

If Hillary Clinton is shut out, I can guarantee you that the McCain campaign campaign will hire thousands of telephone solicitors to contact Hillary Clinton supporters and persuade them to vote for John McCain instead of Barack Obama so that the way will be clear for Hillary Clinton to run again in 2012.

Remeber those telephone solicitors will not be nice and honest and identify themselves as part of the McCain campaign. They will do like the George Bush sloicitors did and identify themselves as supporters of Hillary Clinton.

Enough supporters of Hillary Clinton will be persuaded by this technique to vote for John McCain instead of Barack Obama, to give John McCain the election.

If you want Barack Obama as your President (and I'd say this to Hills, J McC, Huck & Nader supporters too) is to contact the local branch of your Dem Party and offer your help. Email Obama's campaign (sign up at barackobama.com) and they might send you campaign material. Read up on him (don't just choose sites that are pro-Obama, look for neutral sites like votesmart.org and even anti-Obama sites to get a really full picture). You can then go into any conversation about the man with a good deal of confidence.

As far as straight tactics go, keep the nastiness well away. It's a very hard thing to do...you see it on this site all the time, but worse, you see it as a thread running through the political commentary and the campaigns themselves. Keep the shots above the belt. You won't win over undecideds with anything but a positive apporach. Notice how the negative is not doing Clinton any favours? McCain & Obama though...they are MOSTLY positive and are succeeding as a result.

This is not to say you don't study the opponents too, especially the Republican. Good to see you're actively participating.
