...the US Civil War? During the US Civil war, the Peace Democrats aka the Copperheads attempted to prevent Lincoln from prosecuting the Civil war, using racist language and sometimes actively helping the Confederacy. The Democratic party in its own website omits the Civil war and Reconstruction period in its history page. Considering the hateful past actions of the Democrats against blacks, should they just come clean and admit the harmful actions of the party in the past and apologize to the country in general and Blacks in particular?
