What makes you think the economy is strong? Unemployment is up so far, most of the unemployed have been out of work so long they're not even considered in Unemployment Statistics! Those working have college degrees and are trying to make ends meet at McDonalds or Wal-Mart. Those working in these jobs don't have the money to buy (purchase power) the things that makes America great. We have unilateral-free-trade with most countries, meaning that even when a country tariffs us, we don't tariff them back... so our manifacturing workers can't compete at all.
any questions?

We will still be in a recession when the next president takes office. According to republican Alan Greenspan. The question for the next president is what do we need to do to correct the problems we have - not just in our economy. I would trust either democratic candidate to do a better job than John McCorky who just make matters worse.

Absolutely and it will all be because of them. Just there very presence will improve business. Democrats are soooo wonderful that they will make it sunnier, flowers will bloom, and we will all be taken care of. Our kids will learnmore in school, all pollution will stop (except golbal warming, so we need LOTS of money for that). We will never ever ever have to work, ever again because our wonderful leaders will care for us and love us and it will be sooooo wonderful..............

Young are we?

In 1993, 1994 and 1995, it was not said we had a "strong economy". 1993 and 1994 in particular saw slow growth out of the recession that had begun to adversely affect the housing market, job base and consumer spending in 1988.

Apparently you do not recall the recession of the early 90s, or you would remember that.

Ignorant of history are we?

From 1933-1936, we had "spectacular growth" ONLY because of how much things had crashed in the period from 1929 to 1932. No one said we had a "strong economy" despite growth by leaps and bounds, because we had a long way to go.

To answer your question, No. Whenever Democrats have had to be elected to fix Republican economic idiocy, it is not said we have a "strong economy" the very year that Democratic President takes office.

No, they won't. You don't have a problem I guess with the Republicans denying that the economy has been bad the past few years, then one day the light comes on and we need a rebate?
