I think that as soon as we get one clear nominee it'll be better. Right now we still have a preference for one or the other, but when we only have one choice for the Dem nominee I think people will be behind that person. Lots of people don't get their first choice as the party nominee, but that doesn't mean they abandon the party. This happens every election.

I wouldn't worry too much. I think the big question (who gets the nomination) will be decided on Tuesday ... and after that, the party will unite. Hillary and Obama are not at all far apart, and I imagine that whoever gets the nod will get the others' supporters, as well. Despite the 11th-hour "mudslinging", Hillary and Obama have a great deal of professional respect for one another, and, as Democrats, share the same goals. Their supporters will (hopefully!) see it that way too, and will support whichever candidate gets the Democratic nomination. ADDED: Yes, as jonbjammin (sp?) above me just said, the Democratic Party will unite because the ultimate goal is a Democratic President ... NOT another 4 or 8 more years with a Republican in the White House. The country (and the world) doesn't need that!

That is genuinely the question that we should all be thinking about. In history, when the democrats go to the national convention divided, the republicans end up winning the election. One thing we must all do as democrats, is that who ever becomes our candidate, we need to support them and vote for them unless you want McCain in office.
