Are dental retainers covered by insurance?

I broke my dental retainer, will it be covered under insurance? I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. I've only had the retainer for a month or two (yeah I know....) and it is the wire type, not the invisalign-type retainer

Every insurance plan is different. Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card. The rep will be able to walk you through your coverage.

I worked in orthodontics for a long time and in my experience the one you get at the end of your treatment is the only one covered, usually they don't cover replacements. still it never hurts to ask.
