| I'm not sure about African, but I know that the stick used throughout Middle Eastern history is called a "miswaak". I think you can still get them! However, be extremely careful about brushing with anything besides a toothbrush! Wood is especially abrasive to teeth and can cause irreversible erosion. Traditional toothbrushes are ideal, with a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. Good luck!      |
