dental procedure costs...?

I went to a new dentist and she did xrays, deep cleaning, and still have to do 2 crowns, remove the old silver fillings (7 teeth) and change them to composite(white fillings), and zoom whitening. the insurance covers $1500 of the cost and it is the maximum amount I can use every year. the dentist is still charging me $3200 out of my own pocket. is she charging me too much or is she reasonable? pls help...thanks

Cali,First of all, why on earth are you changing out the fillings? If there's nothing wrong with the old amalgams then you are very foolish to change them. Each time you remove and replace a restoration you are opening up a can of worms....read that.... more chance for pain and trouble. If this doc is telling you that composite restorations are better than amalgams than you need to find a new doc! Actually, from what I read into your question, you need another opinion anyways.
